The family of a 13-year-old boy who died after being hit by a car in Erdington on Easter Sunday have paid tribute to his loving nature and ‘heart of gold’.
Mason O’Grady who died after being struck by a car on Easter Sunday has been described as ‘kind, loving and genuine’ and someone who brought ‘joy to the life of everyone’.
The teenager was struck by a Volkswagen Polo as he crossed Chester Road with his family at just before 6.50pm on Sunday 12th April 2020.
He was rushed to hospital with serious injuries but sadly died shortly afterwards.
The car left the scene following the collision but was later located in Sutton Coldfield.
A 28-year-old woman was last night arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and failing to stop. She remains in police custody for questioning.
In a tribute to Mason, his family said:
“Mason was a handsome, kind, loving and genuine boy with a heart of gold.
“He would do anything to make you smile and he brought happiness and joy to the life of everyone he met.
“Yesterday whilst out walking with his family he was hit by a car as he crossed the road.
“As a family we are asking for any witnesses to come forward to help us understand why this happened to our beautiful, kind spirited boy.
“Mason, we will love you always.”
