A 13-year-old boy has tragically lost his life after being hit by a car in Erdington on Easter Sunday.
Police have confirmed the teenager was crossing Chester Road with his family when he was struck by a black Volkswagen Polo just before 6.50pm on Sunday 12th April 2020. He was rushed to hospital for treatment, but sadly died a short time later.
Police officers were immediately sent to the scene of the incident and an investigation is currently underway.
The driver of the Polo has been detained and taken into police custody.
Detective Sergeant Alan Hands, from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said:
“We are still trying to establish how this tragic incident has happened and anyone who has information and hasn’t yet spoken to an officer should call us on 101.
“This is a parent’s worst nightmare and it’s impossible to imagine their grief, but specialist officers will be supporting them as our investigation continues.”
