Guns and bullet stash found at family home in Bordesley Green

A man has been charged in connection with the shocking discovery of three handguns plus hundreds of rounds of ammunition at a family home in the Bordesley Green area of Birmingham.

West Midlands Police forced entry at a house in Norton Crescent, Bordesley Green, at 6am yesterday (12 May) where 39-year-old Mohammed Sajad was detained after officers seized a stash of guns and bullets.

Detectives were shocked to discover the huge stash of bullets and guns as they searched the family home in Bordesley Green.

Sajad was allegedly in possession of a .38 Smith & Wesson revolver and two semi-automatic pistols, plus more than 500 bullets.

This arrest comes as police battle with a spate of disturbing gun crime across the city with drive-by shootings in Bordesley Green and Hockley, and masked gunmen opening fire at a burger bar in Handsworth.

Sajad, from Norton Crescent in Bordesley Green, has been charged with three counts of possessing illegal firearms and ammunition and is due to appear in Birmingham Magistrates Court.

Unemployed Sajad is also accused of possessing cocaine with intent to supply and two counts of child neglect. Detectives are currently investigating these serious issues alongside the firearms offences.

A 31-year-old woman was also arrested at the address and has been bailed while police continue with the investigation.

The arrests – conducted by the Bordesley Green Neighbourhood Team alongside Force CID – come during a concerted drive by West Midlands Police targeting people with suspected links to firearms and drugs supply.
