Police release photos of three men wanted for mob attack on two black men in Coventry

Breaking news tonight as police release photos of three men wanted in connection with the terrifying mob attack on two black youths in Coventry on Tuesday night.

Another man has voluntarily surrendered himself to police and is being questioned tonight.

Detectives investigating the shocking attack by a Coventry City FC mob have seized CCTV and obtained camera footage and are trying to identify those involved in the ordeal endured by the two defenceless victims near Broadgate Square in Coventry.

The two black men were the “target of a violent attack from a large crowd” according to police. The victims were cornered in a dead end and then pelted with bricks, bottles, cans, and sticks by the violent mob.

The ugly attack could have resulted in a major tragedy but police arrived just as the violence was escalating.

There is public criticism of the police for not arresting armed individuals in the crowd

The shameful and cowardly attack has provoked indignation and shocked the people of Coventry, and police are taking the matter more seriously after an onslaught of online criticism and anger from those who have seen footage of the appalling attack which shows armed and taunting individuals in the mob who were not questioned or arrested by the police at the scene.

Police are appealing to hear from anyone with information regarding this disturbing incident which left the two victims traumatized.

One suspect involved in the shocking attack is being voluntarily interviewed by police tonight, and a number of other suspects have been identified and “arrest attempts are being planned” according to a police spokesperson.

Police have released three images of men they want to speak to in connection with the horrific attack on the two victims.
