Police have charged a suspect with knife possession after the violent thug caused a public disturbance in which he brandished a machete in a Birmingham street and screamed “I’ll cut you up” on Sunday.
Armed officers responded to the threat in Ravenshill Road, Billesley, at around 3pm yesterday (18 October).
Shocked members of the public contacted police and an armed response unit was deployed to investigate the serious matter.
The officers arrived with firearms and the suspect was arrested at gunpoint and detained in an alleyway.
A police spokesperson confirmed that a quick search of the location resulted in a machete being recovered that had been discarded into a nearby garden.
The machete waving suspect was identified as Lee Lynch from Colemeadow Road, in Billesley. He has been charged with possessing a bladed weapon in public.
The 29-year-old remains in police custody and is expected to appear at Birmingham Magistrates Court tomorrow.
