A gang of 10 youths stab and rob teenager in Birmingham park

A pack of around 10 young men stabbed and robbed a teenager in a park in the Erdington area of Birmingham on Monday.

The savage knifing, which took place in Pype Hayes Park around 5:30pm on 4 July, left the male victim with stab wounds to his chest and back.

Police have arrested two teenage boys after chasing them through undergrowth in Erdington following the shocking assault.

The 18-year-old victim was viciously attacked by a gang of around 10 youths in the popular public park. They stabbed him in the chest and back with a knife before stealing two phones from him, including his car keys.

The poor victim remains in hospital in a critical condition as police launch an investigation into the robbery and assault.

A police spokesperson said that officers chased some of the offenders through the park. Drones and the National Police Air Service assisted police on the ground in locating the youths, who ran off in different directions.

Two of the attackers tried hiding in undergrowth in the park, but officers chased them, careering into the dense shrubs to arrest the pair – boys aged 14 and 15 – on suspicion of robbery.

The two suspects have been released on police bail as enquiries continue.

To calm public fears following the disturbing gang attack, police have sent patrols into the park and local area to ease the minds of local residents who are alarmed by the brutal attack.
