Devastated family calls for prayers after fatal stabbing of teenager in Wolverhampton

An arrest was made in Birmingham on Wednesday (6 July) in connection with the tragic stabbing of a Wolverhampton teenager whose family have been left devastated and brokenhearted by their loss.

16-year-old Ronan Kanda died after being stabbed on Wednesday 29 June.

Kanda was attacked on Mount Road, Lanesfield, shortly after 9pm last Wednesday (29 June). Tragically, the young boy died at the scene and a murder investigation was started. A post-mortem revealed Kanda died after being stabbed twice.

Police have confirmed that yesterday’s arrest of an 18-year-old male, at an address in Birmingham, brings to four the number of teenagers brought in for questioning in connection with the brutal murder of teenager Ronan Kanda.

Officers had earlier charged another Birmingham youth in connection with the fatal stabbing. On Saturday 2 July police arrested Josiah Francis, 20, of Westcote Avenue, Birmingham. Francis, and two 16-year-old boys, were charged with murder.

Police also stated that two other suspects –  aged 15 and 18 – have been released on police bail.

Kandas family issued an emotional tribute which included a call for prayers: “Ronan was a kind-hearted, loving, caring 16-year-old. Our son and a brother who would do anything for anyone.

“He was a funny character who made everyone laugh around him.

“He is taken from us cruelly and our hearts are broken.

“We want everyone to pray for his soul now. We will always love you our son and my brother and you will live within us now.”
