Murder suspect on the run after killing his brother in Small Heath, Birmingham

A suspected killer is on the run in Birmingham after murdering his own brother in the Small Heath area of the city on Monday night.

Clifton Waite, 56, was stabbed to death inside a property in Waverley Road around 9:50pm on Monday night.

West Midlands Police issued an appeal to track down the victim’s elder brother Lenville Waite in connection with the savage killing.

The murder suspect is aged 58 and is from Small Heath, and detectives issued a warning to the public not to approach Waite but to get in touch with the police with any information which might help to locate the suspect.

The tragic victim, known as Colton, was fatally stabbed at an address in Waverley Road at around 9.50pm on Monday (7 November).

A section of Waverley Road, directly opposite Small Heath Park, was sealed off as police conducted a murder investigation.

Specialist officers are currently supporting the wider family at this deeply distressing time and have requested people not to speculate on the shocking killing.

Detective Inspector Jim Colclough, from Force CID, said: “Our thoughts remain with the Waite family at this awful time and our extensive investigations are continuing as we remain focussed on bringing them some closure.

A police spokesperson, added: “We’re carrying out CCTV and other enquiries in the area as we seek to establish exactly what led to this tragic death.

“If you’ve seen Lenville Waite, who is also known as Tony, don’t approach him but call 999 immediately.”
