Woman’s spine severed by two Birmingham brothers in savage knife attack

Two brothers who nearly paralysed a woman in a brutal assault in Birmingham have been caught and jailed.

Brandon Holmes, 25 and Dale Holmes, 32, from Weoley Castle pleaded guilty to the shocking attack during their trial at Birmingham Crown Court on 25 January.

In the early hours of August 15 last year, the two brothers carried out a savage attack in which a woman was picked up by her hair and punched several times in the face and then stabbed in the back by a bare-chested Brandon after the woman had fallen down.

The four blows of the knife were so vicious that the poor victim needed surgery to remove the tip of the 12-inch knife which became lodged inside her body.

Her spinal cord was partially severed which caused a temporary loss of sensation in her leg. The attack was so feral that the woman thought she was going to die.

She also suffered a bleed on the brain and significant facial injuries due to the brutal punches.

After the horrendous assault, Brandon Holmes released a video on Snapchat showing a person on the floor covered in blood, gloating and laughing about what he had done.
