Birmingham comedy legend Japser Carrott will host a special night to celebrate the 50 year career of West Midlands newsreader Bob Warman and raise money for charity.

The Birmingham Rep theatre have announced A Night of Stars – Celebrating Bob Warman’s 50 Years in Television which will raise money for Acorns Children’s Hospice and The Journalist’s Charity.

The special one-off music and comedy show is organised by Jasper Carrott to celebrate the career of recently-retired ITV Central News anchor Bob Warman while raising money for charity.

Proceeds from the show will go towards two leading charities, Acorns Children’s Hospice – which offers specialist palliative care for children – and The Journalist’s Charity which was founded by writer Charles Dickens in 1864 to offer help to journalists facing a cost of living crisis.

The design of the celebratory show follows the formula and format of vintage television show This Is Your Life.

The show promises to showcase classic archive clips of Warman meeting guests across the decades – some of those guests will make surprise appearances during the show – while the best live musicians in Birmingham will be taking to the stage to entertain the audience.

Speaking about the show, Jasper Carrott said: “It is an honour to be presenting this very special evening celebrating the extensive career of Birmingham’s brilliant broadcaster, Bob Warman.

“This one-off event guarantees audiences plenty of laughter and entertainment at the city’s historic leading theatre.”
