Man knifed to death at Walsall nightclub named by police as Akeem Francis-Kerr

Police have released the name of the man murdered at a Walsall nightclub on Saturday as Akeem Francis-Kerr.

The family of the 29-year-old victim have issued a heartfelt tribute saying he was one of “the greatest of men”.

Akeem Francis-Kerr was fatally stabbed at Valesha’s nightclub, also known locally as Colliseum, on Newport Street in the town centre just after 5am on Saturday (11 March).

Despite the efforts of medics, he was sadly pronounced dead at around 6am while being taken to hospital.

His family issued a statement saying: “The universe has lost one of the greatest of men and his unmatched energy, mindset and love will forever live on.”

His devastated family are being supported by specialist officers who are keeping them updated.

No one has been arrested in connection with the shocking murder and police are appealing for witnesses to come forward.

Police have also set up a dedicated contact portal for anyone who has information to get in touch with the investigation team.

Detective Inspector Ade George, who is leading the murder investigation, said: “Our thoughts are with Akeem’s family and friends as they come to terms with this terrible loss.

“We continue to urge people to come forward with information, a man has died and his family have the right to know what happened to him.”

The shocking murder comes only a few months after the fatal stabbing of Bailey Atkinson in Walsall.
