The three teenage murder suspects, who were taken into police custody last week, have been formally charged with the fatal stabbing of Bailey Atkinson in Walsall.

Atkinson, aged 20, tragically died following the brutal knife attack which took place in the early hours of Saturday morning (28 January).

The three young suspects, who cannot be named due to their age, are a 15-year-old and two aged 16.

The teenagers were all arrested at a hotel in Rhyl, North Wales, on Tuesday night and will appear before Wolverhampton magistrates today.

The tragic victim was set upon by armed assailants in the High Street near Asda shortly after 1am last Saturday. He was rushed to hospital, but sadly died of his injuries.

A post-mortem revealed Atkinson, from Bloxwich, had died of multiple stab wounds.

Detective Inspector Jim Mahon, from the Homicide Unit, said: “Our investigation has been fast paced but has not stopped with these arrests. We know there were others involved in the tragic events of Saturday night and we are determined to find everyone involved to get justice for Bailey’s family.

“We urge anyone with information that they may be withholding, possibly through misguided loyalty, to come forward now.”

Atkinson’s heartbroken family issued a tribute and also appealed for anyone with information to come forward: “We respectfully ask for privacy at the moment while we grieve the loss of our beloved boy Bailey. Our kindhearted and much-loved son, brother and grandson.

“Bailey was so loved, by so many and will be missed so much.

“We request if anyone has any information, they please come forward to help the police with their enquiries to help catch the individuals who done this and taken away our boy.”
