An LGBTQ+ friendly market showcasing at least 15 local traders will be popping up at The Flapper in Birmingham this weekend.

Presented by independent creative trader Queerringz, the ‘Shop Queer’ pop-up market is taking place at the Brindley Place bar venue on Sunday (21 May).

A week ahead of Birmingham Pride, the alternative bazaar will be open from 1pm until 6pm, offering everything from jewellery and accessories to homewares and more.

The market is the brainchild of autistic jewellery maker Jess, who leads passion project Queerringz, hand-crafting unique individual gem and ornamental trinket pieces “with love and care”.

“At Queerringz, we believe that everyone has the right to express their unique style and identity,” the shop’s website reads.

“Our earrings are designed with this in mind, letting you express yourself through our carefully crafted jewellery styles.”

In an Instagram post about the market, Jess added: “Queerringz is taking over @theflapper again from 1-6PM and bringing with me some fantastic small businesses, I can’t wait for you to see!

“We’ve got art, books, jewellery, homewares and best of all, the flapper itself! Come join us for a drink, a bite to eat and a cheeky bit of shopping all in one & cross your fingers for some nice weather!”

The Shop Queer Pop-Up Market takes place at The Flapper, Cambrian Wharf, Kingston Row, Birmingham B1 2NU on Sunday 21 May, 2023 between 1pm – 6pm.
