American singer Pink tucks into Indian curry at Birmingham restaurant before Villa Park concert

Iconic American singer Pink made a surprise visit to a popular Indian restaurant in Birmingham city centre ahead of her history making show at Villa Park on Tuesday.

Staff at Asha’s welcomed the superstar on Monday (12 June) before her concert the following day which saw her become the first female to headline a show at Villa Park.

The 43-year-old Grammy Award winning artist, who has a huge catalogue of songs which includes hits such as Get the Party Started and classic albums such as Missundaztood, was in Birmingham as part of her Summer Carnival tour.

Pink turned up unannounced – and without a reservation – but staff at Asha’s restaurant, which is situated in Newhall Street, accommodated the pop star and her 12 guests which included her children.

Apparently, Pink had heard about the famed Indian restaurant through friends – and stories about visits from other famous diners who’ve enjoyed food the at restaurant which have hit headlines – made her want to taste the food on offer at the Birmingham eatery.

Tom Cruise, who was in Birmingham filming Mission Impossible: Dead Reckoning, tucked into two curries at the Asha’s and earned the nickname “Two Tikkas Tom” on social media in 2021.

Staff at Asha’s confirmed that Pink arrived with her children and crew members and their food order included mushroom Kurkure, Chicken Dhaba curry, samosas, chicken Chettindau curry and naan bread.

At the concert in Villa Park, where the singer performed a duet with her 12-year-old daughter Willow, Pink told the audience that she “had the best Indian food of my life” in Birmingham.
