West Midlands Police have launched a murder investigation after the body of a woman was discovered inside a house in Aston in Birmingham on Monday night.

Police officers were called to Sutton Street in Aston just after 6pm on Monday (March 23), where a 47-year-old woman was found deceased inside her home.

An investigation is underway to find out how the woman died. Detectives working on the case have identified the victim as Nageeba Alariqy. Her family are being supported by specialist officers as the investigation continues into her death.

A 49-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the incident and remains in police custody.

Detective Inspector Hannah Whitehouse, from the CID Team, said:

“We are in the very early stages of our enquiries and I would urge anyone who noticed any suspicious behaviour in the area on Monday night, to contact us.

“We will be speaking with residents and asking them to check their CCTV for anything that could help us.”
