Police have released disturbing footage of a suspected kidnapping in the Small Heath area of Birmingham in the hope of tracing the young woman who was bundled into a car by a man on Sunday evening.

The video shows the moment a dark coloured Ford Mondeo abruptly stops in Golden Hillock Road at 5.45pm on 7th November.

A police spokesperson confirmed a young woman was forced into a car in Sampson Road on Sunday evening but she managed to open a passenger door when the car was in Golden Hillock Road. The victim scrambled outside but a man jumped out of the car and bundled the woman back into the vehicle.

The car then continued towards Small Heath.

Police have radioed around details of the vehicle to all patrols and checked road cameras but have not been able to trace the car.

Enquiries continue in a bid to trace the car, its registered keeper and the men inside the car.

A handbag was found at the side of the road and witnesses have described the person being taken away in the car as a woman.

There was nothing in the bag to help police identify her and detectives have not been able to determine if she’s safe.

West Midlands Police have released the dascham video in the hope that someone will recognise the man shown briefly in the clip or know someone who has access to a similar vehicle and matches the description of the men.

Witnesses have described the two men as Asian and in their early 20s; the man who gets out of the car has a beard.

The woman who was grabbed and bundled into the car was also Asian and believed to be in her late teens or early 20s.

Police are anxious for the woman to make contact to confirm she is safe.
