An elderly Birmingham man in his 80’s endured a horrifying home invasion and suffered a stab wound from a knife-wielding robber.

The vicious break-in took place shortly after midnight in Rednal Road, West Heath, on Saturday (11 February).

Valuables were stolen and the pensioner suffered a knife wound as he tried to protect himself during the shocking incident.

Emergency services transferred the traumatised victim to hospital while police carried out a prompt investigation into the violent robbery.

A police spokesperson stated that quick “CCTV work by officers identified a suspect, and a woman in her 20’s was arrested” a couple of hours after the robbery.

She remains in custody while investigations continue.

Police said “others were involved” in the appalling and cowardly crime and have issued an appeal for anyone with information to come forward.
