Man hospitalised after being shot at Birmingham petrol station
Residents in the Saltley area of Birmingham have been left in shock after a man was shot at a petrol station today.
The victim was reportedly attacked at a Gulf petrol station around 1am on Tuesday (4 March).
Speaking to I Am Birmingham, West Midlands Police confirmed an investigation has been launched after a man was rushed to hospital following the shooting incident in Washwood Heath Road.
Armed police teams swarmed to the scene of the shooting while forensics officers combed the area for evidence.
“Officers attended and found a man in his 20s being treated by paramedics, before being taken to hospital,” a police spokesperson said.
“A forensic examination of the scene is being carried out and investigators are also trawling CCTV as enquiries continue.”
Police have appealed to the public for any CCTV or dashcam footage as the investigation continues into the disturbing crime.
Police patrols have also been stepped up in the area following the appalling incident to reassure and calm local residents.
