West Midlands Mayor Andy Street announces public Q&A session in Birmingham

West Midlands Mayor Andy Street has announced he will be engaging in a public Q&A event in the Moseley area of Birmingham.

The session is open to all and will take place in Moseley Village on Wednesday 19th July from 6pm – 7pm.

The Mayor said he’s excited and looking forward to taking questions from members of the public.

People are invited to ask the Mayor questions on a range of topics such as electric scooters and cycling, making roads safer after recent collisions and hit-and-runs which resulted in deaths and life-altering injuries, knife crime, the cost-of-living crisis, homelessness, the environment, young people and career opportunities, affordable housing, improving local high streets and the city centre.

People can also ask the Mayor what action is being taken to tackle hate crimes such as homophobia, racism and Islamophobia.

In neighbouring Kings Heath there was a horrific Islamophobic attack on a 73-year-old Muslim grandfather who was hospitalised after leaving a mosque during Ramadan, while an earlier attack – which shocked the nation – resulted in 70-year-old Mohammed Rayaz being set on fire when he left his local mosque in Edgbaston.

Talking about the forthcoming Q&A, the Mayor said: “I’m keen to hear about the issues that most matter to residents in Moseley and neighbouring areas by giving them the chance to come and quiz me directly about the work we’re doing to improve our region.

“These events are an opportunity for attendees to learn more about the efforts underway across a wide range of areas – including jobs, housing and transport.

“I look forward to an engaging and productive conversation with local people keeping me on my toes in a celebration of local democracy.”

The Mayor’s Q&A session will take place at Moseley Village, 179 Alcester Road, Birmingham, B13 8JR
