Police are appealing for more victims to come forward after a rapist posing as a taxi driver was arrested in Birmingham.

The sexual predator prowled around for victims in Birmingham city centre, Digbeth and Perry Barr.

The rapist was apprehended by police in the early hours of 10 July as he hunted for more victims. One of his victims has bravely come forward and provided details of her shocking ordeal at the hands of the rapist.

An investigation has now opened into finding further victims of the rapist who would lure victims into his vehicle with offers of lifts, drinks and drugs.

A police spokesperson said: “We believe a man posed as a taxi driver in the city centre, Digbeth and Perry Barr areas and approached lone women late at night offering lifts home, alcohol and drugs.

“As part of our investigation, a 40-year-old man has been charged with rape and other sexual offences. He has been remanded in custody.

“We are appealing for any other potential victims or witnesses of similar incidents to contact us.”
