A stunning replica of Tommy Shelby in sponge cake form went on display at the Cake International Show at The NEC in Birmingham on Friday (4 November).

The Peaky Blinders cake drew crowds of delighted fans who were eager to take selfies with the Cillian Murphy cake.

Award-winning cake artist Jane Lahbrook, 53, said the incredible Peaky Blinders cake took over 330 hours of hard work to produce.

The gifted mother-of-two, who hails from London, ensured every little detail and measurement was up to scratch when sculpting the phenomenal cake which is made from icing, sugar paste and rice crispy mixture.

Lahbrook’s remarkable cake is inspired by Steven Knight’s worldwide smash-hit crime show Peaky Blinders which is set in the Small Heath area of Birmingham.

The life-size replica of lead Peaky Blinders actor Cillian Murphy stands at 5ft 8ins, and Lahbrook’s research about Murphy was so thorough that even the shoes worn by the cake incarnation of Murphy’s Peaky Blinder character is spot on.

Lahbrook’s extensive attention to detail is so authentic that she left nothing out of her cake design which includes such elaborate detail as attaching a pocket watch and chain to the waistcoat worn by Tommy Shelby while the fingers of the Small Heath gangster’s right hand delicately hold up a cigarette.

The detail is so intricate that the cigarette held between Tommy’s fingers shows signs of ash dangling at the tip.

Tommy Shelby is not the only iconic Peaky Blinders character on display in cake form at the Cake International Show at The NEC in Birmingham.

A bust of hotheaded Arthur Shelby (played so memorably by actor Paul Anderson in the gritty show) is also on show as is a bust of Italian-American mobster Luca Changretta (a role performed by Hollywood actor Adrien Brody).

The Arthur and Luca busts were crafted by talented bakers Corinna Maguire and Stephanie Would.

Would, 38, runs Cake Nation in Bradford, West Yorkshire. She said it took her just under two days to design and make the bust of Arthur Shelby.

Incredibly, the Arthur bust was her first attempt at making a portrait in cake form.

The three Peaky Blinders cakes are currently on display at the Cake International Show until Sunday 6 November.
