A violent Midlands rapist who targeted victims across two decades has finally been put behind bars thanks to the bravery of the women.

The three women who helped put their rapist behind bars, almost 30 years after the abuse began, have been praised by police for their bravery in coming forward.

Roy Mosedale, 61, was described as “aggressive and controlling” by his traumatised victims. The rapist used intimidation, violence and control to manipulate the three women.

Despite the passage of time Mosedale’s victims continue to receive support for the horrific sexual ordeal which they endured at the hands of the merciless sexual predator.

One of the Mosedale’s victims was just 9-years-old when the paedophile started sexually abusing her.

She told police that she was routinely raped by Mosedale for almost two decades.

Another victim, who was 13 at the time of the sexual abuse, was first targeted by the depraved aggressive paedophile in 1982.

One poor victim revealed that Mosedale had a habit of putting his hands round her throat and on one occasion placed a pillow over her face, preventing her from breathing.

Most of the offences took place at an address in Brownhills, Walsall where Mosedale lived at the time.

The three women found the courage to speak out and revealed shocking details of Mosedale’s decades long abuse. Their bravery helped to finally bring the violent rapist to justice.

Mosedale was finally arrested in March this year.

The sexual predator pleaded guilty to six counts of indecent assault, three counts of rape, one count of aggravated bodily harm and 12 counts of child pornography.

Mosedale was jailed for 21 years and seven months at Wolverhampton Crown Court on 18 November.

Investigating officer Stefan Wojcieszyn, from the Public Protection Unit, said: “All three women were incredibly brave in coming forward, they deserve huge credit.

“It was shocking abuse and the women have been blighted by what this man put them through.

“Mosedale is now rightly facing justice and the fact the women continued to support the investigation so many years later shows the significant impact he had on their lives.

“Women’s safety is a priority for the force and no matter when the abuse took place, we are here to listen and help.”
