Tens of thousands of party revellers set upon central Birmingham this Bank Holiday Weekend for the city’s annual Pride event, as organisers announced record-breaking attendance for the UK’s biggest two-day LGBTQ+ festival.
Starting with a parade and continuing with a massive street festival along Hurst Street in Southside, Birmingham Pride has been awash with colour as rainbow themed flags and floats have lined the streets, kicking off the inclusive family-friendly festivities.
Adopting the theme of ‘Be You’ this year, over 130 different organisations have been taking part in the parade and follow-up mardi gras style celebrations, including community groups, trade unions, corporate partners, political parties and individual ‘Gay scene’ personalities.
