A violent Birmingham serial rapist – who was previously convicted for raping a teenage girl – has left another young woman traumatised after a terrifying sexual assault.

Luke Sargent, 31, threatened to slit his latest victim’s throat if she cried out for help during the horrific attack in Selly Oak.

Sargent had already been convicted of raping a 15-year-old girl in Rushall on Christmas Day in 2011.

He was sentenced to six years in prison for his sadistic sex crime against the underage girl but in the early hours of 8 June this year the rapist struck again.

CCTV shows the sexual predator had spent some time prowling after groups of women before targeting his young victim in Selly Oak.

He grabbed his victim as she made her way home and dragged her into a empty property which was being renovated. Sargent threatened to slit her throat before violently raping the horrified victim.

Investigating officer DC Andy Carnall, said: “It is testament to the young woman that she bravely reported what had happened to her.”

Sargent was arrested after being spotted by officers making enquiries with builders at the renovation site. He matched the description the victim had given and was taken into custody.

Doorbell footage was also recovered which revealed an audio recording of the rapist threatening to slit the victim’s throat.

Sargent, from Cadnam Close in Birmingham, was jailed for 18 years with a minimum term of 12 years.
