A dangerous West Midlands sex offender who targeted children in the 1980’s and 90’s has finally been caught and jailed for his horrific crimes on Tuesday (17 January).

Paedophile Raymond Higgins was found guilty of eight offences of indecently assaulting two young girls.

Higgins, 71, was jailed at Coventry Crown Court and will be placed on the sex register for his horrendous crimes.

Higgins, of Old Forest Way, abused the girls over eight years.

He was arrested and questioned in 2019 after his victims finally found the courage to come forward and report him to the police.

During police interview, the sexual predator denied being responsible for any of the assaults. He callously claimed the two poor victims were colluding to cause him problems.

Despite denying responsibility for the appalling sexual abuse against children, he was found guilty on 16 December and was sentenced on Tuesday 17 January.

Higgins was jailed for a total of 14 years for the offences and was deemed a dangerous offender by the court.

DC Sunita Sharma, from the Public Protection Unit at Coventry, said: “These were a series of appalling assaults on two young girls.

“Higgins denied any responsibility when questioned by officers and we welcome his conviction.

“These kind of offences are taken extremely seriously, no matter how long ago they took place.”
